Background:
Dementia is a progressive neurological disorder that affects memory, thinking, and behavior. Early detection is crucial for managing the condition and improving quality of life. This project aims to develop a simple, at-home digital assessment to identify early signs of dementia.
In collaboration with researchers at Loughborough University, ZingLab developed one of the most accessible early-onset dementia risk tools available today: a simple, at-home digital assessment that takes minutes to complete and requires no clinical setting, no personal data, and no prior medical history.
The assessment, based on Loughborough University research, is designed around validated cognitive indicators and asks only for a participant's age, then generates a meaningful risk categorization based on their response time. Users who opt in for follow-up can share an email address alongside a small set of optional demographic data points; everyone else participates fully anonymously. No personal data is sold, shared, or retained beyond what participants explicitly choose to provide.
The tool has demonstrated strong effectiveness in reaching across demographic groups, to provide a growing dataset of anonymous, researcher-accessible responses. This is already informing new lines of inquiry into early cognitive decline. We are all about taking rigorous science and putting it directly in the hands of the people who need it.
